A scheme which involves local businesses raising money for schools in Burnham has been given the backing of the South Bucks MP. Dominic Grieve is supporting the 'School Scheme', which was launched at Burnham Grammar School last month.

It involves local businesses donating a portion of their profits to schools to raise much-needed funds. Mr Grieve said: "I am delighted to hear of such a scheme being pioneered in my constituency. I strongly support the principes of businesses working hand in hand with the community they serve, to support education."

Participating in the scheme are estate agent Paul Sherrif, of Burnham Traders' Association; schools - Darren Gray, Burnham Grammar; Brenda Bigland, Lent Rise Primary; Jacqueline Laver, Priory Primary, and Hazel Watt, Dropmore Infant; and sponsors Abu Siddique, Unique Spice restaurant - who donated £400; Suri Poulos, Mindlab Europe and Nigel Cohen, Software Design UK.
